2010 CareGivers Forum Program ![]() Clarence McPherson Finding your Ministry "Sweet Spot" Sweet Spot -- "The place on a bat, club, racket, or paddle, where it is most effective to hit a ball." In ministry, that place where one's personal and spiritual gifts come together in the context of God's call to bring the greatest effectiveness. Too often we as caregivers encounter those who are exhausted from trying to be someone or do something in ministry that is both ineffective and feels counter to who God has made them. "Finding your Sweet Spot" is a theme that will find equal usefulness in the caregivers life as well as in providing care for ministry leaders. This year's speaker for the main sessions, Dr. Clarence McPherson, is committed to "raising up kingdom leaders who know God personally, live His purpose for their lives and experience His divine provision in overflowing measure to advance the kingdom of God." He is the founder and senior pastor of Turning Point Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia, has a masters degree in Biblical Studies and Pastoral Ministry and earned his Ph.D. from Regent University in organizational leadership. He is an author, has hosted a television program and has ministered and conducted leadership training in the U.S. and internationally. At Regent University he was a Beazley Scholar, recognized for his academic excellence and servant leadership. In addition to the main sessions, optional seminars are offered each afternoon focusing on topics ranging from how to start a caregiver ministry to the practical aspects of ministry, personal, team and professional development. In keeping with our theme, one of the seminars this year will focus on "Ministry Styles," helping you discover how you process information, what motivates you in serving, your basic personality, conflict style, learning style, how you respond under pressure, and much more. This is a great opportunity (at no extra cost) but you must sign up and complete an online questionnaire prior to the Forum. Please indicate your interest on the registration form so we can send you the necessary follow-up information. The MinistryStyles tool has also been proven to enhance understanding your working relationships with your spouse, ministry team or board. Consider coming to this together! Small groups give time to connect, interact and pray for a few others more personally. The schedule also includes worship together and free time each afternoon to rest, enjoy the beautiful surroundings or network further. |
